On 03. August 2020, we, BayWa r.e. Japan announce that we have joined the Climate change Leaders Partnership (JCLP), a corporate group that supports the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050 worldwide and aims to realize a sustainable decarbonization society.
We are a part of BayWa AG, an RE 100 company, and are primarily engaged in solar projects. For more than 90 years, BayWa AG has provided market-leading energy solutions in the agricultural and construction materials sectors. On the other hand, BayWa r.e. is in charge of the Green Energy Division. We are a major player in the field of renewable energy and develop, maintain and manage customer-tailored energy solutions.
By joining JCLP, we will demonstrate to society our willingness and actions to support the realization of a decarbonized society consistent with the Paris Agreement, and we will contribute to the sustainable development of both the international and the region through our own practice of decarbonization. What is “Japan Climate change Leaders Partnership (JCLP)”?
The company was established in 2009 as a unique corporate group in Japan, recognizing that the realization of a decarbonized society requires industry to have a sound sense of crisis and actively take action. As of June 2020, 144 companies, including those representing Japan, are members of a wide range of industries. The total sales of member companies totaled approximately ¥119.40 trillion, and total electric power consumption was approximately 48.8Twh (reference and approximate figures including overseas figures).
In order to realize a decarbonized society, cooperation between local governments and foreign organizations will also be promoted, including the conclusion of a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Yokohama City and the establishment of a contact point for RE100, EV100, EP100 as local partners for The Climate Group of non-profit organizations.
